Authorities say three young children have died in a house fire in Atmore.

WALA-TV reports (http://bit.ly/vIApll) that the victims were a 21-month-old boy and two little girls, ages 3 and 4. The victims' grandparents said the children belonged to two different mothers who are 18-year-old twins.

A neighbor told the station that she saw one of the children in the burning house, but all she could do was pray.

The Atmore Advance is reporting that the children appeared to have been home alone at the time of the fire, a report confirmed by several other news organizations.

Atmore firefighters were called to the home on First Street around 8 p.m. Wednesday, when they found it fully engulfed by flames.

The State Fire Marshall's office is investigating. WALA reports that investigators are combing throught the burned out home looking for the exact cause of the blaze. They're looking to see if there were any signs of neglect.

Authorities told the station that there could be charges filed against the mothers, but nothing has been filed at this point.

Other details of the fire were not immediately released.
