AUBURN — The No. 25/22 Auburn football team returned to the practice field Wednesday night after taking three days off following its 41-23 victory over Ole Miss last Saturday.
The Tigers practiced in shells Wednesday and worked in position and team drills during the 100-minute practice.
Auburn head coach Gene Chizik said the Tigers used the practice to sharpen fundamentals.
"We really went back to the basics tonight," Chizik said. "We really took a close look and evaluated our football team. We did a lot of work on Auburn tonight. We started a little bit on Georgia, but really focused on ourselves."
After playing for nine consecutive Saturday's, Chizik said the off week has come at an opportune time for his team.
"Everything is about timing and this off week really does come at the right time," Chizik said. "Playing in as many weeks in a row as we have, we need it mentally and physically. It's good to come off a win going into the off week. But it's good for us to be able to go back and look at the first nine games and work on ourselves."
Auburn will practice again Thursday before taking Friday and Saturday off. The Tigers will return to practice Sunday to begin preparations for the Nov. 12 game against the No. 18/18 Georgia Bulldogs in Athens.
CBS will use a six-day option and the Auburn-Georgia game will air either on CBS at 11 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. CT, on ESPN at 6:45 p.m. CT or on ESPN2 at 5 p.m. CT.
