With the win the Lions improve to 22-6 overall and 11-3 in GSC play. The team will receive a first-round bye at the GSC Tournament, which begins Friday, Nov. 11, in Pensacola, Fla.
UNA won the first set 25-14, before losing the second set 21-25. The Lions then followed by winning the third set 25-10, and then held off the Chargers for a 26-24 victory in the clinching set.
The Lions were led by Senior Natalie Marsh with 17 kills on the night. Junior Jessica Ronyak added 12 kills and Junior Cara Gregg finished with 10 kills on the night.
Setter Hope Rayburn recorded a double-double for the match with 40 assists and a season-high 13 digs. Lauren Greenhill led the Lions defensively with 18 digs, while Caroline Neisler also reached double figures in the category with 13 digs for UNA.
Alabama-Huntsville (9-21 overall, 4-9 GSC) was led by Angela Thurmond's 13 kills.
The Lions will close out the regular season with a three-match stretch though South Florida. UNA will play at top-ranked Tampa on Thursday at 6 p.m. CST before playing at Eckerd the next day at the same time. UNA will close out the regular season with a neutral-site match at 10 a.m. on Saturday, facing Saint Leo on the Eckerd campus.
