Huntsville Hospital's mobile medical unit ready to deploy in disaster areas

Posted: Updated:

Six months after April's Storms, Huntsville Hospital has new equipment to handle a disaster.

It's new mobile medical unit is ready for use, the unit is equipped with two treatment centers and other items needed to help in a disaster area.

It will only take minutes for the unit to be up and rolling once medical officials get the word.

"It's to do traditional triage measures as a field team would do primarily just to get then stabilized and to have a holding area until we can get some kind of a transport to get them to a higher level of care," said Pranteek Patnaik with the Mobile Medical Unit.

The unit also has a phone, internet and fax so it can also serve as an information center.
