MADISON, AL (WAFF) - Madison Mayor Paul Finley announced Wednesday that he will not run for reelection in 2012.
Finley says one reason for the decision is family. He says there have been so many weekends he wanted to visit his family out of state but hasn't been able to because of the demands of his job.
Finley also says he will ask to raise the mayor's salary. Currently it is the lowest department head salary in the city.
Finley told the crowd that he will definitely stay in the city. "We love our city," he said.
Mayor Finley will serve the city of Madison for the rest of his term until 2012.
