Connection between Halloween and Crime

Posted: Updated:

Halloween and crime, it's a trend local police are seeing as Halloween approaches.

Police say two men wearing Halloween masks robbed a Huntsville convenience store overnight Monday to Tuesday.

That robbery happened hours after a man used children's Halloween face paint to rob a credit union in Florence.

Earlier in the month a man wore a Halloween mask while driving a stolen forklift to steal an ATM in Florence.

WAFF 48 News checked with Huntsville Police, they say there's a state law in place to protect businesses from people who try to hide their identities inside stores.

"If you have patrons that come into your store with masks on, you have the right as a business owner, to deny them entry until they take their masks off," said Harry Hobbs, Huntsville Police Spokesman.
