High honors were given to a champion coonhound Thursday in Colbert County.
Hundreds of people were on hand for Beau's funeral at the Coon Dog Cemetery.
Beau was a World Show Champion and 2008 Outstanding Purina Show Dog of the Year.
His owners traveled to the Shoals from Illinois for the funeral at the world famous graveyard.
"I thought it was nice. That's a long ways to come bury a dog. Of course, it was their pet, and I have one too," said Mary Wells of Colbert County.
"I don't know how to describe it, but it's something to see," said Charles Ezzell, also of Colbert County.
Only the nation's top coonhounds can be buried at the cemetery in Freedom Hills.
