Many people have the tradition of tailgating before a game during football season. It's a time where you socialize and, best of all, chow down on all sorts of goodies.
Eating all day may sound unhealthy, but with the right foods, Kevin Ready with Huntsville hospital's wellness center said this pre-game tradition can be better for your health than you may think.
Ready said sitting at home watching your favorite game only burns about 90 calories an hour whereas tailgating can burn more than double the calories.
He said you're more active when tailgating because you walk more, you may toss the pigskin around or play frisbee, and even just yelling for your team can help.
So remember, don't be an armchair quarterback. Get in the game by going out and supporting your team, and your health.
