Mobile, AL. (Sep. 27)—The 63rd annual Senior Bowl will once again feature an afternoon kickoff, game officials announced today. The 2012 game will kick off at 3pm (CT) on Saturday, January 28th in Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The game and week of practices leading up to it will be televised live by NFL Network.
"We feel that the afternoon kickoff works best for everyone involved, especially our very loyal fan base," Senior Bowl President and CEO Steve Hale said. "The afternoon start has become as much a tradition for the Senior Bowl as the tailgating that precedes it and allows our fans ample time to enjoy the other pregame festivities as well."
The South squad enjoys a 30-26-3 edge in the overall series with the North ('91-'93 games featured an AFC/NFC format), including last year's 24-10 victory in front of a sold out crowd of 40,646 fans. It was the 16th sellout in the last 17 years for the bowl and a game that featured 12 first round draft picks and 83 overall draftees.
