BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- University of North Alabama quarterback Lee Chapple has been named Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Lions' 28-20 come-from-behind win over Harding.
Chapple, a senior from Alpharetta, Ga., threw for 308 yards and three touchdowns in the win, including two TD passes in the fourth quarter. The Lions entered the fourth quarter trailing 20-14 before the Chapple led his squad two a pair of TDs in the final 14:22. He gave North Alabama a 21-20 edge at 14:22, thanks to a six-yard scoring strike to Daniel Almon and he followed with a 61-yarder to Jason Smith with 8:06 left.
For the game, Chapple completed 21-of-31 passes (67.7 percent) for 308 yards and three touchdowns. He also collected his fifth 300-yard passing game in his two seasons in Florence.
Chapple earned his second all-time GSC Player of the Week award.
