Community holds vigil for Lindsey Lowe family

Posted: Updated:

There was a candle light vigil Thursday night for newborn twins and the mother accused of taking their life.

Despite the fact that Lindsey Lowe is now charged with the murders of her babies, members of her church family came together to offer their support.

Lowe and her parents did not show up at City Road Chapel United Methodist in Madison for the service but plenty of their supporters did, including their pastor who collected notes from church members for the Lowe family.

Flowers, toys and candles were placed at an altar for the tragic loss of the two young lives.

The Lowes' church family prayed for the newborn twins who Hendersonville Police say were murdered by their mother.

According to investigators, the 25-year-old admitted to hiding her pregnancy then smothering her babies to death with her bare hands shortly after giving birth to them at her family's home.

Authorities say she then hid their bodies in a laundry basket in her room hoping her parents wouldn't find out.

Lowe's pastor says their church family has been devastated by the news.

Lindsey Lowe is out on a $250,000 bond.
