BIRMINGHAM – Officials with the Gulf South Conference have named North Alabama middle blocker Taylor Chapman as the league's Defensive Player of the Week. With the selection, UNA has now had a least one weekly award winner throughout the first three weeks of the season, totaling four honorees overall.

Chapman was recognized after posting impressive block totals that helped the Lions go 2-2 at the Armstrong Atlantic Pirate Volleyball Classic over the weekend. The sophomore from Killen had at least three blocks in each contest, which included a pair of matches against nationally-ranked teams. Her top showing was a match-high five blocks (one solo) in a four-set win over Flagler. She also had 11 digs and three blocks (one solo) in a four-set loss to No. 23 and tournament host AASU.

Chapman is the third different UNA player to be recognized as a conference weekly award winner this season. The Lions Natalie Marsh (Offensive) and Lauren Greenhill (Defensive) took home the honors after the first week of play. Marsh repeated the honor as offensive player of the week following the second week of play.

Chapman's solid showing last weekend not only helped the Lions go 2-2, but also provided head coach Stephanie Radecki with her 200th career coaching victory.
