Despite leading 1-0 at intermission, the University of North Alabama women's soccer team couldn't hold on Sunday as the Lions suffered their first loss of the season 2-1 to Lynn.
UNA's Nikki Brown gave the Lions the early lead with a goal in the 18th minute. The Lions maintained that lead until the 54th minute when Lynn tied the match on a free kick just beyond the 18-yard box. Lynn got the game-winner at the 67:28 mark.
The loss drops UNA to 4-1 overall while Lynn improved to 3-0-1.
Brown's goal came at 17:51 off a rebound from a shot by Jennifer Osmond. It was Brown's third goal of the season. Lynn's Melissa Ortiz scored the tying goal at 53:30 and then netted the winning goal as well from 35 yards out.
UNA goalkeeper Alex McLay had four saves while Lynn's Kelsey Butler has eight saves.
North Alabama hosts Southern Indiana Wednesday at 7 p.m.
