The Alabama State University football team had its final full practice Thursday as this weekend's game at Eastern Michigan is now less than 48 hours away.
Kickoff for Saturday's game is at 12:06 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast live on 90.7 WVAS-FM. The game may be viewed over the Internet through the Eastern Michigan website for $5.95. Hornets Football Central at bamastatesports.com will be the one stop shop for live stats, live radio from the Hornets Radio Network, and the video streaming link to the EMU website.
"Practice was again fast with great energy, focusing on the red zone and two-minute offense," head coach Reggie Barlow said. "It was good work day."
Alabama State practiced for just over an hour late Thursday morning at Hornet Stadium and will fly to Michigan early Friday.
"I believe we have a good game plan, and I believe the players have bought into the plan," Barlow said. "I think they are anxious about the opportunity to play against a really good team that's finding their niche right now. Our game plan is in and the guys have done a good job of learning it and absorbing it."
The Detroit area boasts among the largest areas of Hornet Alumni in the nation. Barlow is excited to bring his team to the upper Midwest to compete.
"I've always been aware from the days that I played here that there a lot of people from Detroit that went to school at Alabama State, as well as from Chicago and those areas," Barlow said. "They don't often get a chance to see us play in person. When you are talking about branding your team and your name, this gives us an opportunity to get our name and our brand out there. There are some good football players in that area and hopefully they'll get an opportunity to see that we're coming and put Alabama State on their minds for the future."
