Former Alabama political candidate jailed in Michigan

MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville lawyer and former congressional candidate Cheryl Baswell Guthrie is in a Wayne County Michigan jail on a warrant out of Madison County.

Guthrie was picked up September first in Detroit, Michigan, on a fugitive of justice warrant.

The warrant came from the Alabama Securities Commission out of Montgomery, for theft of property that they said happened in September of 2008.

Officials at the Wayne County Sheriff's Department said Guthrie went before a judge Tuesday and waived her extradition.

She's being held on a $5000 bond.

Guthrie is waiting to be extradited to Madison County.
