HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Zelous Wheeler started the final home stretch off right with a four-RBI game. That sent the Huntsville Stars (64-71) to a 7-6 victory over the Mobile BayBears (82-54) Thursday night.
Wheeler led the team with four RBIs and a two-run home run. Contributing to the runs were Steffan Wilson with a solo home run and Sean Halton's 3-for-5 night, with a run and an RBI.
Jacob Elmore led the BayBears' offense with two-hits, three RBIs and a go-ahead home run that gave Mobile a short-lived lead.
Both starting pitchers struggled through four innings allowing a combined 13 runs on total 18 hits. Huntsville's Chase Wright allowed six runs on nine hits with one long ball. Patrick Corbin (9-8) gave up seven runs on nine hits including two home runs.
Jim Henderson (4-1) got the win in three perfect innings of relief. Santo Manzanillo picked up his seventh save with a one-two-three ninth inning.
The Stars have won three straight games and look to continue their winning streak on Friday night in game two against the BayBears.
