MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Police in Florida are investigating the disappearance of an Alabama woman.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office said 41-year-old Amy Patterson hasn't been seen or heard from since mid July.

Patterson is a school teacher at Mariner Middle School in Cape Coral, Florida. She apparently did not report for work when classes began August 25th.

Lee County authorities want to question Patterson's ex-husband who she recently started dating again, Daniel Ray Proctor. Officials said Proctor is a person of interest in Patterson's disappearance.

Proctor's family members said he drove to North Alabama in Patterson's car. But when he got there, they found it strange she wasn't with him. He told his mother that Patterson went to Texas to see her family. Patterson never went to Texas and Proctor's mom called police in Florida. That's when they realized Patterson had been missing for more than a month.

Patterson and Proctor both lived in Madison County and still have family in the area.

Police are asking anyone with any information pertaining to Amy Patterson and Daniel Ray Proctor is urged to contact the Lee County Sheriff's Office in Florida at (239) 477-1075 or the Madison County Sheriff's Office at (256) 722-7181.
