FLORENCE -- University of North Alabama head football coach Terry Bowden said he didn't see much to get excited about at the Lions Friday afternoon practice session, but said he said he does expect to see a different team at Saturday morning's scrimmage at Braly Stadium.
"We let the heat get to us today," Bowden said. "Our guys got tired and started feeling sorry for themselves. They lost their concentration and the timing was off."
Bowden said the team's scrimmage at 8:30 Saturday at Braly Stadium will be a great opportunity for the players.
"I think the players will enjoy it," he said. "It's a chance to hit and block and tackle and do all the things that are fun about football. It is also a chance for some players to step up and for others to take charge. We are looking for guys to make plays and see if they know their assignments. We have been learning so much and this is a chance for them to show that is has sunk in."
UNA starting center Jamie Dixon missed Friday's practice after being hospitalized with a foot ailment.
