PHIL CAMPBELL, AL (WAFF) - A memorial is in the works to honor victims of the April 27th tornado in Phil Campbell.
Phil Campbell chief of police Merrell Potter said the memorial will be a major part of the healing process.
"I think it's going to serve as a way to remember the people who've lost their lives here," said Chief Potter.
The Phil Campbell Civitan Club and the parks and recreation department are heading the project which will cost an estimated $15,000.
The memorial will be built by community members using some of the debris left behind from the storm.
"We're going to build back and be stronger than what we were before," Chief Potter said.
They hope to have it completed by the end of the year.
