SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) -
A Jackson County man accused of child abuse and torturing his daughters rejected a plea deal.
Sherman McBryar had until noon today to accept the deal or face trial. He chose to face trial.
A criminal complaint stated that McBryar put his two-year-old in a car seat in the bathroom with three goats while the temperature was more than 90 degrees.
He is also accused of slamming his one-year-old's head into a wall and putting a wire around her wrist to keep her from sucking her thumb.
Deputies arrested McBryar after the children's mother made a complaint.
McBryar was deemed competent to stand trial this spring.
Jury selection for the trial will begin Monday in Scottsboro.
