Grissom High School's head football coach Michael Keith Henderson was arrested for drunk driving.
Henderson was near the practice field at Grissom late Saturday night.
Huntsville City Superintendent, Dr. Casey Wardynski, said he was apparently trying to push tractor tires off the playing field by using a pickup truck and ended up getting the truck stuck.
The truck is school property and he was on school property when officers got to Grissom High School.
Henderson was arrested and charged with DUI and had a blood alcohol level of .12.
He was booked into Madison County Jail and later released on bond.
Dr. Wardynski said he has to make an example out of Henderson.
"These matters are public matters, these are public officials. So as part of sending a message than anyone in high school, this is a message district wide that we expect a certain level of conduct out of our adults," said Dr. Wardynski.
Daniel Horton, one of Henderson's former players, is just starting his freshman year at Alabama A&M.
He's a kicker on the football team who spent the previous season under the leadership of Coach Henderson at Grissom High School.
"He brought me all the way to this level. I don't think I would be a college kicker if it wasn't for him," said Horton.
Horton said he found out about his coach's arrest from some former teammates over the weekend.
"I never thought of him, his character, never thought he would do that, but you never know what someone is going through," added Horton.
"Henderson has put in the time to make this a successful program and we don't want to let allegations keep the program down. Without him right now, we have nothing," said Grissom Booster Club President, Brian Williams.
