19th Ranked Auburn Hits Field For Two A Days

Auburn, Ala. - The 19th-ranked Auburn football team went through a second day of practice in full pads and its first day of "two-a-day" practices with a morning session Tuesday behind the Athletic Complex.

The Tigers split the morning practice, which began at 10 a.m., between the indoor facility and outdoor fields. After a week of solid productivity, the team regressed in the morning practice according to head coach Gene Chizik.

"The morning practice was not good at all," Chizik said. "I thought they were trying to pace themselves and just get to the next practice. Their focus was not where we expect it to be."

Chizik added the Tigers' effort was not in question during the 90 minute practice.

"I thought they tried to be physical out there and they played with effort, but the mental part of it was not there," Chizik said. "We've got to get better at that for today's second practice."

The Tigers will practice again at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday in preparation for Wednesday's scrimmage, which will be the first of the preseason camp.

The Tigers will open the 2011 season Sept. 3 vs. Utah State at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN2 with kickoff set for 11 a.m. CT.

Full season tickets for the 2011 season are sold out. A limited number of lower level mini season tickets and individual game tickets are available. For information or to purchase visit or call 1-855-282-2010.
