DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A DeKalb County woman is accused of falsifying an application to get more than $8,000 worth of improper medicaid benefits.

34-year-old Valorie Smith of Dawson has been indicted on first-degree theft by deception and medicaid fraud charges.

Medicaid Fraud investigators said she failed to include her husband's income and illegally obtained benefits from 2006 to 2010.

Smith was indicted by a Grand jury in June and is currently out on a $2,500 bond.
