Shooting victim Meg Hall gave emotional testimony Tuesday in the Tavares Fletcher attempted murder trial.

Fletcher is accused of shooting Hall, a gymnastics teacher, in the parking lot of a gymnastics complex January 2009. Police said Hall was leaving the Huntsville Gymnastics Complex on Leeman Ferry road when Fletcher and another man tried to rob her.

Hall took the stand and recounted the night the shooting happened. She described walking to her car outside of the gym, hearing footsteps and turning around to see Fletcher.

She said she screamed and hit the offender with her purse. She said he politely told her to be quiet. Hall said she then tried to hit him again and he shot her in the face.

Hall told the court that the owner of the gym came to help her after she had been shot. Her son also came to help before he realized it was his mother who was injured. Through tears, Hall recounted how her son brought towels and talked to her.

She said her son asked her birth date and other questions about her identity. Then she said, "Harry, it's mom," and he began to cry.

Hall gave the first officer on the scene a description of the suspect and he was able to arrest Fletcher a short time later.

During opening statements, the prosecution said Fletcher's cousin, Fats Fletcher, was in the car at the time and witnessed the shooting. He is also charged with robbery and will testify at Tavares Fletcher's trial. The prosecutor also said that the jury will hear three recorded messages from Tavares to his girlfriend when he admits to what he did.

Fletcher is also facing an unrelated attempted murder charge and an unrelated murder charge. He is accused of shooting and killing Jerry Richard in August of 2008.

Richard was working outside of Regions Bank on South Parkway in Huntsville. Police said Fletcher shot him during a hold up. A trial date has not been set in this case.
