FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
Two suspects in two different cold case murders faced a judge in Lauderdale County Tuesday morning.
Eddie Frank Chandler pleaded not guilty at his arraignment. He is charged with the murder of Chris Stanback.
Stanback was killed in Florence in 1994. In 1994, 17-year-old Stanback was found beaten to death in a wooded area near Carver Homes. Investigators said an internet drug ring bust led to new information in the case.
Shannon Ray Johnson pleaded not guilty to the 2000 Keith Barnett murder. Barnett was found beaten, lying in the middle of Highway 17. He died two days later.
Shannon's brother, Alfred Johnson, is also charged in that case. He was not in Lauderdale County court Tuesday morning because he was in Federal court on unrelated charges.
