Huntsville residents submit ideas for growth

Posted: Updated:

It's not often that you'll see a chalkboard in the middle of a park or near a courthouse, but if you do, Huntsville City officials want you to stop and write on it.

They're taking your ideas on how to help the city grow and came up with the ideas board.

It's a giant chalkboard that officials are moving all over the downtown area to generate suggestions on what people want to see.

They're already getting a ton of feedback.

"We're seeing lots of people want local businesses downtown. We're seeing lots of ideas for restaurants, boutiques, hotels," said intern Jessica Carlton. "Really, the ideas just range. They're very varied and different and that's what we want to see."

If you'd like to add your idea to the big board, it will be stationed at concerts in the park Monday night, at Big Spring Park.

Then, on July 21st, the city will reveal its best ideas, and who knows - yours could be a top pick.

If you can't make it out to write your idea on the chalk board, you can submit your idea to the city of Huntsville online.
