GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The Alabama Songwriters Festival is this weekend in Guntersville. Different acts will perform from Friday night through Monday evening.
There will be plenty of food, fun, and even a playground for kids. The event will wrap up Monday night with a fireworks show.
Organizers are expecting a huge turnout this holiday weekend.
"We had 10,000 last year. We're hoping for that many or more this year. We had a two day event last year. Just because the Fourth of July fell on Monday, and we had the entire weekend we thought we'd stretch it out and have a good time for four days," said event coordinator Phillip Mosley.
Friday night, they will have on display pictures from the damage caused by April's tornadoes.
"It was very heart wrenching," said Mosley. He also said the Red Cross got them the rights to show a video by the group Sugarland.
Donation tents will be set up around the event for people to donate to tornado relief efforts. All of the money raised will go to the Red Cross and Salvation Army.
