Wallace State Community College's athletic programs had four teams achieve National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic Team status for the 2010-11 season as released by the NJCAA on Wednesday afternoon.
Wallace State's softball team earned the highest mark, finishing fourth in NJCAA softball with a cumulative 3.48 grade point average. The women's basketball team had the sixth-best GPA in its sport, finishing with a 3.41.
Additionally, Wallace State's volleyball team finished with a 3.37 GPA, and Dan York's golf team accumulated a 3.26 GPA. All four programs achieved the highest marks among NJCAA schools in Alabama.
Wallace State's golf team is just a year removed from earning the nation's top GPA and being named the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year in its sport, while the softball team accomplished the feat two seasons ago.
