MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Hartselle mother is set to go before a judge this week to face a murder charge for the death of her son.

23 year-old Casey Lynn Travis' arraignment is Thursday, but in the meantime, family and friends gathered to remember 3 year-old Jayden Travis.

Some of Jayden's family held a candle-light vigil Tuesday night at the Morgan County Courthouse.

The same place where Casey Lynn Travis will face a judge this week.

The family felt the courthouse is as good as any place to honor the life of Jayden and hope justice will be served.

They gathered to pray, sing songs, share stories and even shed some tears.

"Jayden came to this earth as an angel on June 13, 2006. Unfortunately, his time on earth was not meant to be long. We all have a job to do and Jayden's job concluded a little sooner than any of us wanted," said Jennifer Cullars, Jayden's Great Aunt.

His love of balloons gave the group a chance to let go blue and green balloons in the sky as remembrance of him.

The sad story behind the gathering is last month, Jayden's mother, Casey Travis was indicted for his murder.

Court records said Travis is to blame for chemical endangerment of her son.

The family said this is not a time for vengeance but a time for justice.

The arraignment for Casey Travis is scheduled for Thursday, June 30th.
