FLORENCE -- Former University of Florida defensive back Janoris Jenkins will play his senior season at the University of North Alabama after signing an athletic grant-in-aid with the Lions late Wednesday.
Jenkins, an All-Southeastern Conference selection in 2010, had eight career interceptions at Florida, including three during his junior season. He returned one 67 yards for a touchdown. He was projected by some as a first-round draft pick after his junior year.
North Alabama is coming off a 9-4 season that saw the Lions advance to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the sixth consecutive season. UNA is approaching its third season under head coach Terry Bowden, who has led the Lions to a 20-6 record over the last two years, including a Gulf South Conference championship and two NCAA playoff appearances.
