GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Three people were killed and one remains in the hospital after a plane crash Saturday morning near the Guntersville Airport.

It happened around 10:00 a.m.  The plane went down near Cedar Circle and Morrow Drive.

Marshall County Coroner Marlon Killion announced Sunday afternoon the names of the four victims.

Killion said the two adults killed in Saturday's plane crash in Guntersville are 52-year-old Robert "Tim"Hatton who has homes in both Lebanon, TN, and Xenia, Ohio and 32-year-old Tara Whitacre of Xenia, Ohio.

Whitacre's two children, 4-year-old Hailee Day and 7 year-old Gavin Whitacre, were taken to Huntsville Hospital.  Killion said on Sunday morning Hailee died from her injuries.  Her brother remains in critical condition.

Guntersville Police Chief Jim Peterson said the plane was a Piper Cherokee 140, a low wing general aviation aircraft. It is unclear whether it was arriving or departing. It crashed in a yard on Buck Island in Marshall County.

The plane was reportedly in four pieces with a wing completely broken off, the fuselage burned, and the tail section broken off.

Several emergency crews responded to the scene. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Admission are investigating the crash.
