VINA, Ala. (AP) - Franklin County authorities say a 29-year-old Vina High School mathematics teacher is charged with having sex with a former student.
Sheriff's investigators say Kimberly Bynum of Russellville is charged with being a school employee engaged in sex with a student under 19 years old.
Officials say the 17-year-old student, who graduated this year, admitted to investigators he and Bynum had an affair. Investigators say they then called Bynum.
Bynum remained in jail under a $10,000 bond.
Assistant Superintendent Donald Borden says the school board will conduct its own investigation.
