GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Marshall County has been approved for Operation Clean Sweep.
It's a federal program which allows debris cleanup on private property in tornado devastated areas.
Only residents who live in grids identified by federal officials will be eligible, and it only applies to the area around your home and not the entire property.
Marshall County Commissioner Bill Stricklend said the purpose of Operation Clean Sweep is to "allow that property owner to be able to get into that home site and to either move in a FEMA home or start construction on their home."
Residents can sign up in the basement of the Marshall County Courthouse starting on Monday. The office will be open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. To 4:30 p.m.
Commissioner Stricklend said residents will need to have identification, their property identification number, and any property insurance information if available.
You can contact them for more information by calling (256) 571-7865. You can also look up your property information online by clicking here.
