On Monday, June 27th, at 1:00 p.m., golfers from around the state and region will participate in four simultaneous charity golf tournaments played on Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail courses in Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile and Montgomery/Prattville as Alabamians help Alabamians. The golf tournaments were quickly organized to help provide financial support to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts on behalf of Alabama's tornado victims.
Everyone is invited to "Chip in for Alabama" by registering to play in one of the tournaments. Numerous city and state officials and political figures have already signed on. Helping to coordinate the effort are Jenkins Brick Company, headquartered in Montgomery and their affiliated company, Acme Brick Company of Fort Worth, Texas. In a joint statement Dennis Knautz, President and CEO of Acme Brick and Norris Watson of Jenkins Brick commented that, "For both Acme and Jenkins, our fundamental philosophy and corporate mission is to be positively involved in those communities that we serve. The best thing we can do for Alabama at this moment is to help the Red Cross provide relief for the thousands of victims of the recent tornadoes."

Norris Watson added that, "Since April 15 the American Red Cross has mounted a huge effort to help disaster victims. As of May, 26, 2011, the organization and their many volunteers have provided: 7,208 overnight stays, served an astounding 410,266 meals, nearly a million snacks, 15, 779 health services consultations and distributed 1,389,604 bulk items like shovels and clean-up kits. It's been a historic effort but the Red Cross now needs more support than ever."
Robert Trent Jones Golf Inc. has generously made available their Oxmoor Valley Ridge Course near Birmingham, Hampton Cove, Highlands Course near Huntsville, Magnolia Grove, Falls Course at Mobile and the Capitol Hill, Legislator Course at Prattville so that the Red Cross can help the people of Alabama. Having four tournaments spread around the state, gives all Alabamians a chance to help "Chip in for Alabama."
Registration is limited to 120 players per course. In addition to great golf and camaraderie, participants will be provided a box lunch at 11:30 and free-range balls. Competitors play for a chance to win a new car with a hole-in-one prize on a designated par 3, and a "closest to the hole" competition for footballs autographed by Gene Chizik and Nick Saban plus many other prizes. Corporate sponsorships are also still available.
