Long-time friends Pam Scott and Stephanie Daffin gave time on Mother's Day to volunteer with the tornado cleanup effort. Both have been members of Saint Bartley's Primitive Baptist church for more than twenty years. They joined church members in Harvest Sunday to pick up debris.
"When you come out and look at the devastation people have experienced, you don't look at this like wow it's Mother's Day, you look at this as 'How can I help?'" Scott said.
The sermon in church gave Daffin something to think about. "We talked about God and his awesome power. He moves and sometimes what we think is judgement is not judgement. If we look around and not settle on the things we lost, but look at the things God saved," said Daffin.
The congregation has adopted a family in Harvest to help them with the recovery.
