U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan will travel to Tuscaloosa and Birmingham on Monday, May 9th.
They are going to assess the damage and initial recovery efforts from the deadly tornados in late April. Secretary Donovan will be joined by federal, state and local elected officials for a tour and media availability of housing that was devastated by last month's storms.
HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan, U.S. Senator Richard Shelby, U.S. Representative Spencer Bachus and Mayor Walter Maddox will being touring Tuscaloosa Monday at 8:30 am. The will take questions from the mediat at Rosedale Court Apartments to discuss ongoing response efforts in Alabama following the devastating severe weather. The tour begins at the Salvation Army site located at 1035 29th street in Tuscaloosa.
The group will then relocate to Birmingham and take media questions at Timber Ridge Apartments located at 825 Cherry Avenue. This tour will start at 11:00 am.
