Girls working to comfort children affected by tornado outbreak

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Kids in Decatur are collecting stuffed animals for children affected by the tornado outbreak.

14 girls, most of them students at Benjamin Davis Elementary School, collected more than 100 stuffed animals by Friday. Seven-year-old girl Lucy Sedlak came up with the idea and got her friends involved.

"I like to sleep with my stuffed animals. And I just thought that it would be nice for other people to have stuffed animals. Because all they have left, maybe a penny or so, which can't buy them stuffed animals," said Sedlak.

The girls will soon deliver the toys to kids. If you would like to help their cause, send an email to or call (256) 318-0767.
