DeKalb County Schools aim to aid storm students

DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) The impact of the April 27 tornadoes is momentous for the students, teachers, and families within the DeKalb County School System. Basic necessities are now a priority.

As students return to the classroom, many families are struggling to afford the bare essentials for the children. Local schools are coming to the aid of families in need with the newly established DeKalb County Schools' Tornado Relief Fund.

The donations to the fund will support basic and necessary needs of the families. Donations will be accepted at all local schools within the DeKalb County School District and at all branches of First Southern State Bank. The following locations are included:

  • Rainsville
  • Scottsboro
  • Higdon
  • Fort Payne
  • Stevenson
  • Centre
  • Leesburg

Checks should be made payable to Dekalb County Schools' Tornado Relief Fund or DCS Tornado Relief Fund, and can be sent to the following address:
