SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX (KLTV) - A man has been charged with capital murder in the death of a Hopkins County man.

Hopkins County investigators have charged 43-year-old Brian Allen Tucker with murder in the death of Bobby Riley, 62, of the Mahoney Community.

Riley was found dead in his garage Friday morning by his ex-wife. It is believed Mr. Riley was murdered on the morning of April 25.

After responding to the scene, officers determined that the cause of death was suspicious and an autopsy was ordered. According to District Attorney Martin Braddy, Riley was strangled with a shoestring.

It was also determined that items such as guitars, an amplifier, and guns were stolen from his residence. The items were later recovered from a pawn shop in Texarkana where Tucker was seen on Video Surveillance from the store.

According to District Attorney Martin Braddy, a second person has been arrested and charged with theft in connection with this case. Sarilu Mattlen pawned some of the items stolen from Riley's house. At this time, it is not known if she is connected with the murder. Authorities tell us she has been cooperating with the investigation.

The couple, who are transients had been living in a 2005 Chevy Cavalier that they had recently purchased together. However, at the time of Tucker's arrest, authorities found him and Mattlen in a shack in Yantis.

District Attorney Martin Braddy has not yet made a determination on if he will seek the death penalty in the case.

Tucker and Mattlen are awaiting arraignment. The investigation is ongoing.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
