Severe weather threat in North Alabama today

Severe storms are heading toward the Valley today. These storms will be capable of producing straight-line damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes.

A tornado watch will most likely be issued sometime early today as the line moves closer. Thundershowers will begin out in the Shoals first, then develop elsewhere across the Valley this morning.

The line of strong and severe storms won't arrive until after lunch, probably between 2pm to 4pm in the shoals, 4pm to 7pm in the metro, and 7pm to 10pm in sand mountain. Highs today will mainly be in the mid and upper 70s.
