PULASKI, Tenn. – A total of 12 University of North Alabama batters combined for 22 hits Tuesday as the Lions routed Martin Methodist 19-3 at Sam Davis Park.
With the win, UNA improves to 27-10 overall. Martin Methodist is now 22-16.
UNA never trailed in the contest, scoring a run in the second inning and then blew it open with seven more in the second.
Chad Boughner (7-1) got the win for the Lions, allowing two runs and four hits in five innings of work. Johnny Hornbuckle pitched the final two innings, allowing two runs.
Michael Schmidt led UNA's offensive attack, going four-for-five with three runs batted in. Jared Mothershed and J.P. LaMunyon had three hits each and Blake Stroth, Jake Sloan and Josh Carpenter added two hits each. Also getting in on the hit parade were Drew Humphrey, Josh Cyr, Zach Summy, Andrew Almon, Dale Ricketts and Nick McGregor.
North Alabama hosts a three-game non-conference series Saturday and Sunday against Lambuth.
