A former Russellville Police Officer was rushed to the hospital after a standoff.

And this is the second time this man has held his former colleagues at bay while holed up in his home.

It happened late Monday night on Ash Avenue in Franklin County.

"It was pretty scary," said Franklin County resident John Carter.

Those are the words he uses to describe a three-hour standoff Monday night in Russellville. Carter is the maintenance supervisor of the Russellville Parks and Recreation Department. He was watching kids at the rec center, right across the street from where Robert Saint was holed up in his house with a gun.

"I went outside and three police officers come and i asked what was going on and they said nothing much and they went across the street to the guys house and all of the sudden they started running back," adds Carter.

He says the officers grabbed their guns and instructed him and all the children inside the rec center to stay away from the windows.

"Yeah they were pretty frightened," said Carter.

Everyone was safely evacuated from the rec center just before Saint was taken into custody around 10 pm. The suspect went without incident to the hospital, but it's a situation Carter never wants to be in the middle of ever again.

No work yet on what ramifications Saint will face.
