DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Lorenzo Langford, 21, was in court Monday to seek youthful offender status.
Langford faces murder charges for the death of his 88-year-old step-grandmother, George Ann Sears.
At the time, Langford was living with sears.
Sears was found beaten in her Decatur home in January with severe head injuries and a fractured spine.
Defense attorneys asked the judge to postpone his decision on youthful offender status, but before that hearing can happen, Langford has to undergo a state ordered mental evaluation, so a continuance was ordered in the case.
