MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) - After an agreement was reached in the budget battle, we got some reaction from one of our state congressman. He said lawmakers were very successful to be able to cut $39 billion dollars from the federal budget, which he says means a lot for our servicemen and women.
"What it means to our local workforce is also important. Despite the cuts that were made we were able to increase the defense budget by $5 billion dollars that's quite remarkable in this atmosphere," said 5th District Ala. Congressman Mo Brooks.
Representative brooks went on to say that the $39 billion dollar cut is just a first step.
The battle resumes as more reduced spending efforts for the 2012 budget are underway.
