Is your non-profit group looking to earn a little extra money this summer while having a good time? Well here's your chance! The Huntsville Stars and Sodexo, the concession and catering company of the Stars, are looking for non-profits to help out in the concession stands all season long at Joe Davis Stadium.
Groups must provide between 15 and 35 volunteers each home game, depending on the day of the week. Of those volunteers, six to 12 must be over the age of 21 to cook and serve beer. All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. The volunteer duties are very basic and include taking inventory, handling cash, assisting with a game report, and clean up at the end of the night.
"We're looking to support a great group in the Huntsville community that wants to come out and have fun but earn some serious cash for their organization," said Scott Tolmach, Director of Concessions. "Last year's group made over $20,000."
The non-profit group earns a percentage of the food and beverage sales from the game. They will receive 6% of beer sales, 8% of food sales with an additional 2% incentive pay. Interested groups should contact Tolmach at firstname.lastname@example.org or (256) 882-2562. Preference is given to groups who can make a majority of the Stars' 70 home games.
The Stars open the 2011 season on the road against the reigning Southern League Champion Jacksonville Suns on Thursday, April 7. They return to The Joe on Wednesday, April 13 for their home opener against the Carolina Mudcats. The Oktoberfest celebration is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. with first pitch at 6:43.
