CARROLTON, Ga. -- After leading the Alabama-Huntsville men's basketball team to earn the top seed in this weekend's NCAA South Region tournament hosted at Spragins Hall, junior guard Josh Magette (Birmingham) and sophomore guard Zane Campbell (West Limestone) have been named Daktronics first-team All-South region as announced on Wednesday.
The No. 2 assist man in all of Division II basketball, Magette averages 7.7 dishes per contest and 12.6 points-per-contest. The honor is the first All-Region selection for Magette, who was also a first-team 2011 All-Gulf South Conference selection.
Named the 2011 GSC East Division Player of the Year, Campbell leads the Chargers with a 13.7 points-per-game average.
The selecions were the first for the Chargers since 06-07 when Jason Smith, brother of current UAH starter Jaime Smith, earned Daktronics First-Team All-South Region honors.
