Tanner boys, girls win state basketball championships

For the first time since 1986, the Tanner boys and girls high school basketball teams won state championships in Birmingham Thursday.

The Tanner girls took care of Woodland in the Class 2a state championship game winning 71-53. Lauren Harris scored 14 points and added 11 rebounds. The Finals MVP was senior Sierra Sales who had 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Lady Rattlers to victory.

As for the Tanner boys, a comeback ended with a state crown. the Rattlers trailed by as many as 14 points in the game before rallying in the 4th quarter to bring home a state crown.
