HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The snow that fell Wednesday night turned into ice early Thursday morning.
Many roads in the Tennessee Valley are icy and impassible. Emergency crews have been out all morning working wrecks on I-565 and Highway 72.
Many schools in north Alabama are operating on a delay and several are closed all day Thursday. Businesses are also operating on a delay to give employees time to get to work.
A glaze of ice will stay on the roads through mid-morning. Clouds will be on the decrease with sunshine returning this afternoon. Temperatures remain cold with highs in the mid 30s.
