We're all bundled up now but April is coming soon and with it, the tax man. So I want to take a moment to tell you about the SaveFirst Initiative. SaveFirst teams up with Alabama colleges and universities to provide free tax preparation services, financial literacy information and opportunities for saving to low-income, working families, especially those eligible for an Earned Income Tax Credit Refund. In 2010, SaveFirst filled out tax returns at no charge for 783 working families at sites all across North Alabama, helping them claim one-and-a-half million dollars in refunds and saving them nearly two-hundred-thousand dollars in commercial tax preparation fees. For more information, go to the My Take section of WAFF.com. We've posted a list of North Alabama SaveFirst sites as well as contact information so you can see if you qualify and make an appointment. I'm Vanessa Oubre and that's my take. What's yours?
