GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Two cars of a freight train went off the tracks in Guntersville Friday afternoon forcing traffic to be diverted around the wreckage much of the afternoon.
The accident happened near Highway 227 and blocked part of the highway before equipment could be broke in and the train removed.
Guntersville police said the train wasn't carrying any hazardous materials. Police suspect the recent heavy snow played a part in causing a shift in the rails that caused the derailment.
No injuries were reported.
